I am using windows 8 consumer preview. Now I tried to update windows defender. It begins to download, but at the end always comes with error. Is this normal?

Also, there is another problem when I try to update windows 8. It takes very long time and does not moving forward, So have to cancel because its take too long. What happen?

Any answer would be appreciated.

It is very hard to say. I would suspect a corrupted WU system. This is usually the problem. Since the Win 8 RP is due to be released in early June you might have to wait until then.

You have to Clean install from one beta to another beta. These are beta OS's. I would suspect part of your problems are from an upgrade install rather than a clean install. many people are trying to take the shortcut to upgrade their present OS to avoid reinstalling all their present apps. This just does not work well for beta software. You are much better off doing the clean install.

Sorry for getting back late. Regarding the first issue about WD, that is ok now. I tried to update again, thats fine. Its strange. But the second problem is still there. I will consider to install windows RP if no other choices.

enroy, I believe that you'll find Windows 8 RP to be more usable than CP was, or at least most of us here feels so. Download it from the approved site here, choosing your correct region of the world.

It's preferable to use a download manager for this, there's free ones for most popular browsers. After download, be sure to check the hash, then burn it at a slow rate (4x is good) with your favorite burning software. If you have no preference, ImgBurn is great, & free.

Backup your computer fully (disk image), be sure to save any items of importance to a Flash drive, CD's or DVD's.

Boot from the new DVD, enter the install key, & you should be ready to roll in a matter of minutes. Post back if you have any questions or issues.

If you are Windows 7, no burning software is needed. That OS will direct burn images to DVDs. Rt Clk the .iso & select Burn Image to Disc... will burn @ correct spd.

If, still, using XP will need to grab ImgBurn
