Hi all,

After I installed Win 8 RP, I ran Windows Update successfully, getting the 2 updates plus Windows Defender definitions.

I have now installed Office 2010. Now, Windows Update fails repeatedly with error 8024402F. The update Troubleshooter has (twice) claimed to fix "Potential Windows Update Database error detected 0x80070490" and "Windows Update components must be repaired"

This error indicates a problem with the Windows Update service. Perhaps this MS Fit It article will help. There is a new Fit It Tool.

Have you tried the method as Ted said? Does that work for you? If still cant work, you can un-install office 2010. Dont click the "Continue Online" when you re-install office.
