    Default windows update

    Hi all,

Please help. I am meeting trouble with windows 8 update. When I use windows update through control panel, windows updating is just checking and no result and I can see the ProgressBar is running. See the screenshot.

I have tried windows update in metro UI, same problem, like the screenshot below. The dots are runing.

Have you viewed you update history (on that same page) to see when any updates were installed? Most of mine were done silently, I didn't even realize that any updating was taking place.

That's weird. I just checked, it said my computer is up to date. The last updates were installed on 04/10.

Mine's not just running & running w/no result. Another reason to hold firm that Windows 8 is still very much a beta. It's acting differently from one computer to the next.

I use Windows 8 CP daily, to learn it, but my use of it is web page viewing, forum posting & general usage. I don't use it for making purchases or things of prime importance & won't until I buy it, either as a upgrade or in the form of a TechNet subscription.

I have been using Win 8 for everything with great results. My WU is working perfectly. My installation was a Custom (Clean) install. Could this have been your problems. Did either or both of you do Upgrade installs?
