I found a bug in windows store in windows 8 release preview.

The Windows Store's tile keeps showing a number 1 on it, indicating that an update is available. When I open the app, it too says that an update is available in the top right corner. However, when I click the purple text and go to the update page, there are no updates available. This doesn't seem to be an issue with the counter itself as an update came out for one of my apps today and knocked the counter to 2. When the update installed it went back to 1 as opposed to resetting.

Is that a bug?

I suspect it might just be your install. I just checked my Store app and nothing shows up on my tile (I so rarely go to Metro, I had to go check).

I might try to uninstall / reinstall the Store app and see if that works. If everything is working and this number (counter) you see does not affect things, then just live with it until Win 8 is released.

This a known bug in this preview version of Windows 8 and has no fix currently. As Ted said, this is not a big problem. Just ingore it and wait for the final release.
