Default Windows 8 tutorials: How do I remove the Windows.old folder?

If you haven’t formatted the partition and installed Windows 8 over it with custom install option instead of Upgrade or after Windows 8 Refresh, then files in previous version of Windows will be stored in Windows.old folder. They do occupy large hard drive space, after using Windows 8 for 1 or 2 weeks if you’re sure you won’t required these files in future then you can safely remove this folder and reclaim disk space using built-in Disk Cleanup tool in Windows 8, here is how.

We have covered this several times, and in fact I just answered this again in a thread. Hopefully people will read this instead of asking the question once again.

Yeah, right! In a perfect world, regardless of the task at hand, people would read instructions before acting.

But this world is far from that. I've never seen so many users not imaging their present, stable OS, before trying out a beta. This was very prevalent when Windows 8 was in CP stage. Users wanting their old OS back & having no way to get it, though the instructions on the download page gave links to these things.

Give it a week or two, someone else will be asking this well worn out question. I thought this was resolved back during the early Windows 7 days.

I can only hope that the "should I go with 32 bit or 64", or vise versa threads doesn't start up again.

If you really want to infuriate the masses, or at least a few of them, just say......

    RTFM!

I made that somewhat dubious comment in one thread and got flamed so bad by one guy that I had to ban him.
Dang! He went off like a barn full of fireworks!
Anyone would have thought that I'd just punched him in the eye!

It just means to read the manual, or Instructions.
I find this on my car forums all the time. People will jump on the forum and post a question that is very plainly answered in their 'Owner's Manual'.
We've become an entire society of people who "will not read".

Before I ever joined a Win-8 forum or even thought about downloading Win-8/Beta, I spent several days, reading various Win-8 forums, bookmarking web sites and taking notes.
So, when I finally did download Win-8 and install it on a SPARE hard drive, the whole process went off without a hitch.
"Some people will do the right thing, after exhausting all the alternatives".
Can we close this thread now?
