Or simple Right Click the Taskbar, Click Toolbars and Uncheck the Toolbar there without going through the Properties step.

Sorry but I feel like a buffoon. I am using windows 8.1 with a new laptop. There is a task bar/toolbar that shows up in the desktop view when I swipe in from the left with the touch-pad. Is there a way to deactivate that task bar/toolbar? It is very annoying because it pops up on the desktop very frequently. My 8.1 start menu looks very different from the start menu shown in this thread.

    Thanks

There were some significant and subtle changes from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1

As for your question; that toolbar your referring to is called "app switch", which is apart of the hot corners that was introduced in windows 8. This allows quick access of opened and running apps to switch between them easily. This is apart of windows 8/8.1. The only work around is to use a 3rd party software that will allow you to disable the hot corners. See here......

    A question.
Did you read the previous post on this thread? Or did you check the date of the last post?
That's important because it was started back in the olden days of Windows 8 and much has changed since then.

Windows 8.1 is really a different OS.

It might have been better if you had just opened a new thread with your question, and try to be as specific as possible.

    Just a thought
