Another method to open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop is to use Win + X and choose Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.

Pray tell, how does one press the "Win" key on a tablet?

Do you have a soft keyboard? It must have a win key.

Swiping to the lower left of the screen will also bring up the Power Users menu. Use this to open a cmd prompt.

Nope, the windows 8 virtual keyboard does not have a Win key, just a stupid smiley face icon that gets you emoticons.
I tried swiping the lower left, and nothing happened (except the screen scrolled left).
I am using Release Preview on an ExoPC.
Windows 8 on a touch tablet has a very different user experience than a keyboarded computer.
If I want to get to the virtual keyboard from the Metro UI, I need to:
    1. Right side swipe for the charm bar.
    2. Touch Settings
    3. Touch Keyboard
    4. Touch "Touch keyboard and handwriting panel"
Hardly user friendly, 4 gestures just to bring up the keyboard (which has no Win key).
Oh, and get this. If you are on the emoticon screen and you want to go back to the alpha screen, you have to go to the number punctuation screen to be able to go back to the alpha screen.

On the Desktop, try swiping to lower left, when Start Menu thumbnail appears, right click.

I did not realize tablets do not have a Win Key.

And it just gets Betterer and Betterer!

If it were possible, I'd be running DOS.
