    Lightbulb For anyone interested in having an Applications window

    For anyone who would like to have an Applications window on their Taskbar...

    This creates a desktop shortcut (icon). You click on it, remove the Nav tree, select what View wanted, Sort how wanted and MINIMIZE. It will, now, sit on the Taskbar. Always just minimize, do not close. It is the equivalent of ALL Apps screen (WinQ). It allows one to access everything, not just what may be on the Start screen (Tiles) but, all applications in a traditional window type display, unlike the ALL Apps screen display AND makes everything accessible from Desktop w/out ever having to change screens.

    It only has to be redone from the desktop icon if & when one boots or reboots.

    You Rt Clk on Desktop > New > Shortcut. Put in the line below. Name it "Applications" and voila.

    %windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}

    I may have mentioned this somewhere before but, you, also, may like to try using it, too.

    Cheers,
    Drew

    Thanks for the info, Drew! I believe that you did mention this prior, or possibly something along similar lines.

    Anyway, good time for a bump. This is the type of info that we need here. I'll do it on 8.1 next time it's fired up.

    Sure, Cat and you might want to try Medium Icon for the View instead, of List; kinda looks like opening Control Panel of yore.

    I have been asked to provide screen shots for this so, here they are. Clk on the 1st one to enlarge & then hit next to go through them.

    BTW, if using Applications window, File Explorer is on its Jumplist; ergo, still, 'right there'. Opening it will give you all your Quick Access pinned folders.

    No real point here, just anecdotal. I had pretty much quit using the Start menu, @ least sometime early in Win7, maybe earlier. The lack of one in 8.0 & 8.1, you can imagine, never really bothered me. Nor do I use the Start screen in 8.1 (or the ALL Applications screen). Do often use them, those screens, to Search.

    Now, w/ Win10, even though it has a Start menu, I hardly ever have any call or need to open it. I don't use it to access All Applications nor to Search; use Taskbar Search.

    Cheers,
