Ted, thanks for sharing. Have downloaded one theme but can't open it. just told me "Windows can't save this theme to your computer".
any helps?
Aaaaaa.......
If you go to additional Themes in the themes app in windows, the theme will download, install and run.
If it downloads as a file, just click it to run it, to install it. There's nothing complicated about it.
I've downloaded several, saved them on my Utilities CD/Flash drive so I can share them with others.
They work just fine on Windows 7.
I've downloaded several really neat themes from the MS Theme store. I really like the "City Lights" theme. I have it set to change to a different city, every five minutes. Really neat!
This is the City Lights theme on my win-8 desktop.

OK, here's another theme.
I can't remember what it's called, but it has several of these beautiful landscapes.
I really like this one!
Unfortunately, they do not work in XP. (sniff)

I really like different landscapes. I took all the different themes and just put the pics into my themes pics folder along with about a 100 other landscape pics. I have they scrolling through every 15 mins. in a shuffle mode. Never know what's next. I like the variety.
I like the landscape ones the best also. And the way that they shuffle every few minutes. Have been doing it this way for about 2 years now.

Win-8 is a vast wasteland, or maybe I should say a blank canvas, when it comes to attractive desktop wallpaper.
That blue Desktop screen, with a origami fish in the center of it, just won't cut it for most users.
I elected to browse the MS theme store for something better. City Lights was the first I downloaded and installed.
It's Gorgeous! Then I did some more shopping and found a beautiful theme with German Countryside pictures and another with Australian countryside pictures. There is also a Nebula theme, (see picture below) and a Dutch Theme.
I'm adding them to my Windows 8 Stuff folder on my Utilities DVD.
A huge PLUS is that all those themes work equally well on Win-7.
I've installed the City Lights theme for several of my Windows 7 users. They love it!
Cheers Mates, & Happy Computing!

Many of the Windows 7 themes works with Windows 8 CP quite well. The landscapes are my favorite, my wife likes the ones featuring the moon the best.
I used to like those space scenes, that rotated every few minutes, but got burned out on them.
