Default Password logon keeps turning itself back on

I've gone to the User Accounts dialog box and unchecked "user must enter name and password to use this computer" and gone to the sign in options in PC Settings and changed the password policy but it keeps turning itself back on. I'm the only user on this computer. Can someone tell me what's going on?

Are you talking about Microsoft Account or Local account?

My local account. I don't have a Microsoft account. I even tried turning the lock screen off by editing the registry. The lock screen is gone now but I still get the password prompt. When I change the password policy it will stay off for a while but then turns itself back on.

Found the problem. I have Tuneup Utilities installed and it created its own list of advanced power management settings.

Sometimes, the 3rd party software will make changes on your pc slinkingly when you didn't notice it.

That utility should be removed. And anything else similar to it. Often Users who have one of 'those' have more than one.

Thanks johots. I've also found that I had to change the password setting in each of the Windows power management schemes. I think that's what was turning the password setting in "PC Settings" back on.

Thanks for the advice Drew but I've used this one for a few years now and have found it to be very lean on processor and memory use while doing a good job of automatically keeping my machine clean and maintained.
