Start Menu Icons are missing
After a windows update, most of my start menu icons are missing !! , I even cannot search for my programs ( windows key + Q ).

also I lost desktop icon which is supposed to be at start menu !!!

I know this is old But I am Having the exact same issue, reboot and now search doesn't work and icons " including the desktop icon" are missing. cant even pin to start.

Has anyone found a resolutions to this?

You might try a System Restore, to back out of that update. Eh?

That's certainly where I'd start.
