No audio output device is installed
Hi all,
I am running Windows 8 Release Preview on my Dell Inspiron 9300. Everything is fine except I cant hear sound. It says that no audio output device is installed.
I've tried using the Audio Troubleshooter, but it seems not work. it says that hardware changes might not have been detected. So it cant solve the problem.
Any suggestion? Thank you.

jessica, Welcome to our Forum.
You could try going to Dell and download/install the Win 7 drivers to see if these will work. There may very well not be Win 8 specific drivers released by the sound device manufacturer yet. Dell should have any up to date drivers available.

Re: No audio output device is installed
I would suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it helps.
Since Windows 8 has not been released yet not all drivers are going to work with it. Some drivers are very specific about the operating system version, so you might have to wait until the manufacturer releases Windows 8 drivers.
a) Uninstall the driver if it's already installed. Then when you install or reinstall it, right-click (or press and hold) the driver, and select Troubleshoot Compatibility.
b) Click Try Recommended Settings, and in the next window, click Start the Program.
c) After it installs, see if it works correctly.
