Default Listening to music while on other websites

I just got Win.8 w/IE10. I like to listen to internet radio while I check the news, emails and just browse. I can open a radio site and it plays but, when I go to another site (check my email for example) the music stops. Right now the only way I get to listen to music is to not do anything else in IE. When I used Win7 w/IE8 all I had to do was minimize the radio station and continue my work. How can I get the same functionality out of my new set up?

I have learned through experimentation that the problem only occurs when you launch one of your pinned apps and then go to one of the apps that comes on the Start screen when you take the computer out of the box. As far as I can tell I can run two or more apps that I pinned to the Start screen at the same time. Anything Microsoft saw fit to install for me won't run with any other app running. It's stupid because all the apps operate in IE10, but there you have it. Another bit of Microsoft arrogance.

    Just curious....

Are you trying to run I.E. from the Metro screen or from the Desktop?
There have been many problems reported with I.E. when run from the Metro screen.

But then, why even run I.E. at all? It's a mess!
    Try another browser, like Firefox.

I found (eventually) that running just about everything from the Desktop is far superior. My particular interest is being able to listen to the radio and I found I can launch it on the Desktop then go back to the Metro screen to check my email, the news and so on.

Everybody seems to love Firefox. I may give it a try.
