Adobe reader always closes automatically
Hi all,
This desktop is for company use. I installed windows 8 consumer preview in March. And I installed Adobe reader to open PDF file. Today, I open a PDF file with Adobe reader, but the file closes automatically suddenly. I open again, it closes again. I tried several times, same problem. The file will close less than 1 min later.
What happens?

First, If the PC is for company use, do they own it? If they own it, did they approve the installation of a beta OS, Win 8 RP (I assume you installed the latest version)
Second, If the PC is yours, try a different PDF reader. I have found Foxit Reader works quite well although many others do as well. Most are far more secure than Adobe Reader, and consume far less resources.

Re: Adobe reader always closes automatically
Hi Ted,
Thanks for reply.
I have used this desktop for one year and I am the only person who is using it in my company. Also,I installed windows 8 consumer preview in March. Adobe reader worked perfectly since I installed till yesterday. My PDF files always close. I attempted to open other PDF files, same problem.
The version of Adobe reader if 10.1.3.13. I am not sure if its the latest version.

Re: Adobe reader always closes automatically
It should be the latest version, there is the option to check for updates in the drop down menu. I haven't had any issues with Adobe, other than it being a resource pig. But it's seldom used, so I can live with it. If I had to deal with PDF files daily, I'd use an alternate.
Foxit Reader, as Ted stated is an option, but there were issues with the newer version & Firefox after an update. However, Foxit has been updated again since then & it may be OK now. It's worth trying out to see, at no cost to you.

I would also suggest clean installing Win 8 RP. There have been many changes that might solve the original problem. I also want to repeat, does your company realize you installed a time limited (it will deactivate automatically after Win 8 is released) beta OS on a company owned PC. Most employers would have a huge problem doing this, no matter how many people use the PC. Beta OS's have problems and are not designed to be installed on work related PC's.
