Adobe Air loads but can't install Adobe Air applications that install fine in earlier versions of Windows and Mac. Error is that "installer file is damaged". Any assistance would be appreciated.

hjachter, welcome to the forum!
Were all of your browsers closed when attempting the Adobe Air installation? And did you get it from an approved site? Try downloading it again from here. It's the latest version.
Download Adobe Air 3.3.0.3560 Beta 3 - FileHippo.com
There plenty of commonly used software on this site, normally File Hippo has the latest of their offerings. Of course, there's the older versions listed for those who needs backwards compatibility.
EDIT! Just installed w/o any issues!

Thank you Cat. I appreciate your response. Maybe my post wasn't clear though.
Besides working in .net, I am an Adobe Flex developer. The purpose of this exercise was to see if my soon - to - be - marketed .air program would install on Adobe AIR running on Windows 8. It did not install as I already described.
I had no problem installing Adobe AIR directly from the Adobe site. There were no errors whatsoever. The problem arose when I attempted to install from the installation file I created in Adobe FlashBuilder. Since my information management application failed to load, I attempted to load another .air program which generated a series of sine waves as an audio source. I got exactly the same result. To emphasize: both of these Adobe Air programs were generated in the Adobe Flex environment and both install fine on OSX and Win 7 where Adobe AIR has also been installed from the Adobe site.
This is the same file that I have previously installed without issues on OSX and Windows 7. It is not corrupt -- despite the fact that Air/Win8 reports that it is.
This thread topic was moved from a different thread. It deserves it's own thread to allow more exposure to the problem. Plus it's not good form to "hijack" someone's thread with a different problem.
Thanks Ted. Didn't mean to hi-jack the Flash thread. Just used this forum for the first time and it wasn't clear how to create a new thread.
No problem, hjachter. Looks like your use of the software is far more advanced than mine is. My original suggestion is the best that I can offer.
Hopefully, another member who knows more about the program will come forward with an answer.

No problem. On the main page of any of the forums there is a link at the top that states "Post New Thread". Just click that link and it will walk you through the process. Very simple, plus your problem might have gotten hidden by the other thread since the topics were different. That would not have been fair to your question either.
Yours is a difficult question. Perhaps someone would have an answer, but I'm thinking it might get more exposure within a forum for Adobe products. I'm not even sure there is such a beast. How about this Forum.
Please do come back because we might need your expertise here in the Win 8 Forums as well.
Thanks for the pointer Ted. Guess I was a little impatient in not searching for it there.
BTW, I the first thing I did was search the Adobe site. They are adamant that until Win8 is officially released, they will not support it. Kind of a "Catch-22" since these problems need to be identified and solutions found before Win8 is officially released. Figured I'd support both communities by identifying this problem but maybe I'm going in circles.
In any case, here's a problem with a major vendor that MS should address now. That's my point; I guess.
You might try to send some feedback to MS about this.
