I tried to do a restore of Windows 8 using the Windows 8 restore
I have Brink's Dual Boot on one HD Method 2 installation.
Drives showing.
C- Windows 7
D- System reserve
E- Windows 8

I tried to do a restore of Windows 8 only using the Windows 8 system restore.
All the restore points shown by the Windows 8 restore are full disk points C,D and E.
There are no (E) only points.

I tried creating a new restore point and it takes 2 seconds and it is done.
It isn't really writing one just putting the new name on it.
It lists D which is the Windows 8 reserve partition as inactive and it says it can't restore inactive drive.
I don't want to restore all the drives from XP anyway.

Is there a way to create system restore points for E -the Windows 8 partition only?

I just want Windows 8 to create normal XP restore points on the E partition ignoring C and D.

C,D and E are on the system image. I can update that when E is working properly.


Also can I do a repair on Windows 8 with the Windows 8 CD without losing everything on the E (XP) drive?
I think you can on a seperate HD with only the Windows 8 but I'm not sure with the Dual boot on the same HD.
I don't really want to start from scratch on a reinstall of Windows 8.

I tried CCleaner to fix the original problem since Windows 8 System Restore wasn't an option.

Why not ask sb who know computer well to do the restore for you? Or take it to the after-sale service to ensure the file security!
