Default How do I re-enable Storage Pool in windows 8 RP

    Hi everyone,

I have been using Storage Spaces on my windows XP and windows 7. Now I did the in-place upgrade to the Release Preview, and my two storage spaces that were configured using "Parity" are no longer accessible.

It says, "Error Inaccessible; enable pool". I also see "Error in the upper right of the form".

When I click on "Change Settings", I get an UAC popup, but after I click "Yes", then it goes back to the previous form, there's a wait cursor for a short time, then nothing else happens, except now, the "Change Settings button is grayed out".

    Thanks for reading my thread.

I do not know if Storage Spaces is fully implemented yet in Win 8 RP. Or the problem could be related to an Upgrade rather than a Custom (Clean) install. It seems most people attempting to Upgrade from Win 7 to Win 8 RP are experiencing strange problems. There is no Upgrade from XP to Win 8 RP. This requires a Clean Install.

Thank you for answer. Yes, I noticed that lots of users have the same problem. I did not find the fix from them. I am considering to do a clean install.

This is the only way to get a pristine installation. When I installed Win 8 RP, I first went to my Win 7 installation and deleted the Win 8 CP partition. This left unallocated space that I then Clean Installed Win 8 RP into. I have not seen any of the issues so many have with Win 8 RP. It seems many people did not follow our advice to Clean Install Win 8 RP.

The biggest problem that I could think of, when NOT doing a Clean Install was the mixing or Blending of two OS's.
But when I actually did that, for testing purposes only, there was no mixing, or upgrading, at all.*

    * As said many times already, "There is NO upgrade path, from any OS to Win-8/RP.

The installer crammed everything from the old OS into one folder, called Windows.old and the new OS installed as one normally would. The old OS has no effect on the new one. Any pictures, data files, etc., from the old OS can be extracted from "Windows.old" and copied to the new OS. But any programs would have to be re-installed.

I had saved nothing important in Win-8/CP, so when I installed Win-8/RP, I just used Disk Cleanup to totally delete the Windows.old directory. Now I have a completely CLEAN install of RP.

    Moving right along...............
