Default Windows 8 Password Remember Failure

    Hi guys,

I often log in the LAN to share the information with my colleagues. You know that every time when i have access to other computers, win 8 asks me to type into the password. It's boring. Then I set it remember the password, While it is useless.

Have you ever encountered such problem?

    Many thanks!

    Hi,

I've got this issue to... no matter how many times I click for it to remember, it doesn't.... Just driven me crazy trying to print to a network printer, when I remembered about this... Anyone have a solution to this issue yet?

    Cheers

My first question would be "why do you need a password on an OS that we're just testing?" because it's so temporary, Win-8 should have nothing on it to warrant the need for a password. Eh?

On Win-7 there is a registry tweak to remember password and Auto Log On.

That same tweak may work for Win-8 as well. The last time I needed that, I just Googled for it.

    Good Luck,

TechnoMage, It's not for passwords on the laptop... It's for passwords to access my NAS device which is shared on my home network... This device also acts as a print server... Previously, the access would be granted by the Windows Login, as other devices I have are set up for the same User / Password... But windows 8 doesn't operate the same way, my username is my LiveID, and password also different... So I then get prompted for a user/pass when I try and connect to NAS... This is what I want the system to remember...

If I go in to Credential Manager it's saved it there, but then a restart will no-longer remember these....

Thanks for the auto-log on, but it's not that that's an issue... Least, not for me.

All that info, if given at first, would have prevented me from making a fool out of myself. Eh?

Sorry I didn't fully understand your problem.

    Good Luck!

    jmdrizen, welcome to the forum!

You can convert your Windows 8 CP login credentials as a local account, rather than using the Windows Live login ones. Go to the Control Panel>User Accounts & Family Safety>User Accounts>. Now you should be at "Make Changes to your user account". Click onto that, & the Metro screen will appear, don't be alarmed. You can create a local account here, with your normal username & password. You will be asked to verify this, and possibly a reboot or re-login.

I did it once myself, it only takes a couple of minutes for a skilled computer user. There will be some differences, such as some of your Metro apps, especially your email, won't work properly.

This should work for the present time, but keep in mind that at some point, you'll probably want all of Windows 8's features to work properly, if you upgrade to the OS. I hope that my answer steers you in the direction that you want.

    Best of Luck,
    Cat
