Default connected to network but no internet access.

    Hello guys,
I recently purchzased win 8 and installed in my hp elitebook 8440p laptop. It started working fine. Internet was working fine with wireless connectivity. Then i installed windows media centre. Since i installed media centre in windows 8, i am unable to use internet.

My laptop shows that i am connected wirelessly and no issues like limited connectivity.but still no internet.

Then i tried using internet by connecting laptop to network cable. Again, it was connected to network but cannot open a page.

When I open internet explorer or chrome, it keeps on waiting but nothing happens. I reset everything including router, laptop but still getting the same error.
I would really appreciate for your prompt reply.

Thanks buddy for your reply. I figured out the problem that it was my internet security program that was blocking my internet.
To all users, who are upgrading windows remember to uninstall and then re-install antivirus or internet security system before posting any post.
    Gosh! I am alive again

Do you use router? just call command window by pressing "Ctrl+R" and enter "cmd"。 In that window, type "ipconfig", then you will see your local ip address. If it like "192.168.1.xxx", then type "ping 192.168.1.1" in command window, see if you have a good ping or not.

If it is good, then restart the router and make it relogging the internet.

If it is bad, maybe your wireless card driver is not compatible with Windows 8. Download a new one.
