Default Always disconnect in windows 8

    Hi all,

I rent a new house and I moved this new house last week. However, since I moved to this new house, I have been frequently disconnected from the connection I use. Also, a message pop up when disconnected:

" No Internet access" or " Identifying ".

Each time, I have to restart my wireless network connection adapter.

I have tried resetting my router, but nothing changed. Do you have any good suggestions?

    Thank you for your time.

This could be a problem with the placement of the router in relation to your PC. Some routers do a better job than others at reaching through walls, etc. Depending on the age of the router, the band the router uses, etc, you may have to place the router in a different position in relation to the PC.

    1. Make sure the Firmware for the router is up to date.

    2. If, the Channel is set to Auto, try various other Channels. 11, 9, 6 are good starts. Having changed locations the channel being used may not be optimum & suffering from interference. Auto does not always find the best Channel, ergo, manually look for a good one.

    3. If, it's a desktop, make sure the wireless adapter (card) is (still) seated properly & that the antenna is tightly attached.

    Cheers,
    Drew

Quite often the 2.4 GHz band gets a lot of interference from other networks in the neighborhood, from cordless phones, heck I used to have interference from an old microwave oven. It's possible a newer router with the 5 GHz band would do better for you as well.

There are many things that can cause drop outs of wireless connection. I have found my Win 8 CP seems to actually connect better than my Win 7 does.

That seems to be the case with me Ted, Windows 8 CP connects to internet faster than Windows 7 does & I also have a useable desktop in less time.

The OP's issue could be with any of the above mentioned fixes. Unfortunately, if the 2.4GHz band is the issue, there may or may not be anything that can be done, especially if there's lots of such devices in the immediate neighborhood. Even florescent lights, now supplied for free from many local power utilities, can cause interference, which is a little noticeable since I switched all of my light bulbs to those type (the corkscrew looking ones). Especially if I'm trying to connect from the patio, fortunately, which isn't often.

The good thing is, many users are now going to the DECT standard, the 1.9GHz band which isn't shared with other devices, that may help in the future. I have such a phone, setting less than 2 feet away from my wireless router, it doesn't harm it at all.

    dect-6.0-defined

Finally, if this issue persists, & this is one thing that I cannot tolerate, buy a wireless router that operates on the 5GHz band (usually a dual band router). This will significantly reduce interference. Here is one, at a reasonable cost. Note that these type of wireless routers aren't available from WalMart or Newegg for $29.99 yet.

Note that this item is as low as $59.99, which is good for what it offers. Make sure to buy new, the links are provided below.

But before doing anything, try out Ted & Drew's suggestions, those may be helpful. When moving, anything can get knocked loose. And re-positioning does work for many users.
