I installed Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0 on my windows 8 release preview. However, currently Sony Vegas won't load any videos with .mp4, .wmv, and .avi formats.

How can I get this software work with windows 8?

Have you tried adding the media center extender yet? If not, go to the Control Panel & type in the search box "Get more features with a new edition of Windows", w/o the quotes. There, you'll be asked if you have a product key. Select that option, you have a product key.

Enter MBFBV-W3DP2-2MVKN-PJCQD-KKTF7. It's a legit key, published several times over on the forum & hundreds of times using Bing or Google searches. After a few minutes, & a reboot, you'll have the Media Center extender added.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to wait for the final version, or additional codecs may be needed. I haven't tried it, but there is a Windows 7 Codec pack, one of which is recent (08/08/12) & will play many of what you want. I can't promise that it'll work, but this is worth a shot, & best of all, free.

There is another media player setup that we discussed in the early goings, before we even had one, if this doesn't work, hopefully it can be found.
