    Hi Guys,
I'm a silver surfer in England really struggling with Windows 8 and would appreciate help with photos in my documents. I spent 4 hours on the phone with MS support yesterday and after doing another download of the windows 8 there are still problems. When I try to run a slide show the screen only shows the upper portion of the photograph -it's some sort of sizing problem but I cannot see any fix. I have tried for 3 hours today to correct this and have run out of ideas. I find the new system very confusing and jargon has increased.
Any simplified help would be very much appreciated.

When you run the slide show see if there is an option to center the photo or stretch. If the photo resolution is higher than the resolution of your screen, you will only see a portion of the photo. Setting it to "stretch to fit" will resize the photo to fit your screen. IF this option is available, it should work.

What type of PC are you using, a desktop or latop? Did it come with windows 8 preinstalled or did you install it? Are you using the picture app, which I dislike? I've downloaded MS Essentials and installed movie player and picture viewer and set picture viewer as default to open my pictures, now I have full control of all my pictures.

Thank you for your kind reply. Unfortunately there are no options to do any of this merely to change the speed of the show. I have reset sizing to 125% (although 150% worked well in Windows 7) and it now seems to work ok however everything else is small and font changes don't seem to make much difference. The windows photo ap never works merely shows a rotating circle (trying to load?) so I am now using the program that came with my camera.

    Incidentally "travel" doesn't work either!

In games it suggests I can download Xbox games - do I have to have an Xbox machine to do this or do these games work OK on the PC ? No "help" menus to guide you through any of this - pretty pathetic Microsoft.

    Hi bassfisher6522
I'm using a new touchscreen all-in-one desktop (ACER AZ5771 with 23" screen) . It came loaded with windows 7 and I had a free (hopefully I'll get money back) download to windows 8 from PC World, which I did myself and it initially wiped all my existing programs including the touchscreen program etc.... I was using the picture ap (see my reply to Hue. Where do I find MS essentials please?

From here..... Windows Essentials - Download Windows Live Essentials

You don't have to use it, windows 8 has windows photo viewer, but its just a basic viewer. With essentials 2012, you can edit, crop, add text and so on. To set any software as default, go to control panel, programs, set your default programs, then choose the app and clicking on it and then select set as default.
