Here is the thing.

I am using office 2003 on my laptop. I made a powerpoint and sent to my friend who is using office 2007. She made some changes and sent me back. Then I cant edit the powerpoint. I can open it, but it does not allow me to do any changes.

Is there anything wrong? Thanks.

Have you asked your friend to save the file as another powerpoint? I met same issue before. Save as another file, then ok.
