Hi all,
I am using windows 8 release preview and I would like to install office 15 preview(microsoft office 2013 preview).
Can Office 15 be installed in Windows 8 release preview? And if yes, any installation guide or installation instruction? Thanks.

Re: Can Office 15 be installed in Windows 8 release preview
Glad to see that there's a workaround for this, as Office 15 is highly anticipated by some. Were it not for the recent Win 8 Pro promo, I was going to get another TechNet subscription & get it all at once. But the promo is too good to turn down, $40 beats $200 by a long shot.
Guess I'll wait until the next version of Windows for this one, it should be at SP1 by then, where Office 2010 is currently at. More than likely, it'll be bundled with my next desktop.
Enjoy!

Re: Can Office 15 be installed in Windows 8 release preview
MS has done Office 15 the same way that they've done other software, the XP crowd (as usual) has been excluded. This time, it's Vista beginning to get the rejections. These users were the ones who were robbed the most in this century so far. Many had to spend extra cash for an XP downgrade to have a usable computer, later were offered an "Ultimate" package that mainly consisted of skins, screensavers & a few games. BitLocker was included, but few users could take advantage of it.
It's becoming more & more evident that MS only wants Win 7 & 8 around.

For god's sake XP was great but...
You don't keep writing & building stuff for a 20 yr old OS.

Office 2013 installs along side Office 2010 very nicely. It actually becomes the default when installed. I suspect once you uninstall Office 2013, the original Office installation will again become default.

Actually, in a side-by-side scenario one can open, say, Word 2010 OR Word 2013. The only component that will only allow the use of 1 or the other is Outlook... to open Outlook 2013, Outlook 2010 must be closed & vise versa. 2013 is basically a trial eval but, 2010 & 2013 co-exist nicely. It's not a matter of 'default' exactly... except for Outlook it's either or. If & when 2013 was removed or expired, one would then just simply be left w/ the already & still existing 2010.
This does make it really easy to A/B the 2 versions of Office; for example, one could create a PPS in 2010 & then, do the same in 2013.
Cheers,
Drew

Re: Can Office 15 be installed in Windows 8 release preview
For the current time, while Windows 8 is still a pre-release OS, I'm using Office XP. Due to me having a Static Activation Key (unlimited installs) for it, it makes sense. I haven't used Office on the OS anyway, it's just there. Office 2010 Pro Plus is on both my OEM Win 7 installs.
No need to burn my limited activations of Office 2007/2010 on a non-stable OS. Once Windows 8 becomes Retail, & I purchase & install it, I'll install Office 2010 Pro Plus (originally sold for $499) on it. Being that it's now at SP1, any bugs has been worked out, & it should serve me well until the next version of Windows is released in 2015. Plus those who paid full price for Office 2010 Pro Plus is unlikely to upgrade this soon, it's a better target for current Office 2007 users who are running Win 7 & 8 RP (will be Retail by then).
But I may try Office 15 on 8 RP, just won't buy it. While MS may surprise us yet again, I'm not looking for an ultra cheap version of it. The full fledged version (equivalent to Office 2010 Pro Plus) will probably be anywhere between $350 & $500. If I did decide I wanted it that badly, I'd grab a Desktop TechNet subscription for $199 for 2 COA's of it. However, I doubt it'll happen, Office 2010 is in it's prime, & is still the "gold standard" of MS's Office installs, probably will be for some time to come.
