Please help me.

I got an error code and error message when I attempt to install windows 8 release preview:

“Windows failed to start. Status: 0xc0000260, Info: An unexpected error has occurred.”

Any idea? Thanks for any help.

This appears to be a CPU compatibility issue. Another article on same. Even though these articles relate to Win 8 CP, there has been an added security protocol added in Win 8 RP whereby the NX or XD must be enabled in the Bios. You may or may not be able to do this.

That setting is not in my own bios, but Win-8/RP/64 loaded OK anyway.

It's probably becoming a Default on the newer motherboards and if so, then it's not a bios option.
(although, my MSI mobo is now seven years old)

In that case, the OP's CPU may be older, who knows. That error code does point toward a CPU compatibility issue.

I've seen it myself, when, just for fun, I was trying to install Win-8 on an OLD PC.
