I am going to install windows 8. But I get stuck on this part of the installation. It has a fish picture and says getting Devices ready. I left it like that a few hours and tried it again for 6 hours but it still does not work.

Whats wrong with it?

If it's stuck on the fish, you are trying to install Win 8 CP. The newer version is Win 8 RP. Install using this method. Win 8 RP is much improved over Win 8 CP.

In your installation you are probably trying an Upgrade Install, Wrong. Do the Clean Install and save yourself a lot of trouble.

The same thing happen to me!!! GETTING DEVICES READY ON 88% and no advance more!!!!

You did a upgrade from current version to windows 8 or did a clean install? I suggest doing a 'clean' install.

Clean install didn't work for me. any other ideas?

Is "NX" (may also be named "XD") enabled in your BIOS? This wasn't enforced with CP, but is being with RP.

It's a security feature of the CPU. After recently learning about it, I've often wondered why this wasn't enforced years ago, it's been around for some time. Some users may need a BIOS update to access the feature. I must caution here, to check first, to see if a BIOS update will actually help. Information for all Intel CPU's can be found on their site, what features it supports, along with detailed tech specs.

And remember, there is risk with flashing the BIOS of a computer. It can render it an expensive paperweight. If there's any doubt, please contact a reputable computer repair/service center for advise.

I guess my OS file was ruined. I re-downloaded a new one and re-installed. I finished the installation and everything is ok. Thank you for answers.

There are times that the downloaded ISO file gets corrupted. Because the servers have been very busy, and at times your ISP connection may have problems with large files, we suggest using a Internet Download Manager. This will help if the download is interrupted for any reason. Once you have the ISO file, burn it to DVD using a slow burn (4X max) You use this to install Win 8 RP and this DVD contains all the repair console info so it may be needed for those chores.
