I'm wondering why I have to have use a cd that has to hold over 2.3 gigs when I downloaded the consumer preview and I did not need one. If I still need a cd what brand would u recommend and how much space would you recommend getting?

You need that because there is not an upgrade path from Win 8 CP to Win 8 RP. You must clean install. This is most easily accomplished using a DVD. Any brand DVD should work. Be sure to burn the ISO file to the DVD at a slow burn rate.
Yes. Use a DVD, will not fit on a CD.
If your bios allows a boot to flash, you can also burn the ISO file to a flash drive rather than a DVD.
I was going to say "NO". The disk has to be larger than the ISO you're trying to burn.
There is only ONE size of DVD, so size is not optional.
Win-8 is meant to fit on a DVD, but not a CD. A DVD is ten times bigger (about) than a CD.
DVD's also burn data much faster than a CD, so always burn a DVD at a SLOW speed,,,2x to 4x is fast enough.
