    Default Programs missing #1

    Hi all,

So last Thursday I've installed windows 8. Installation went okay, gained the error that he couldn't remove the disk from the computer, but that's 'cause I used a flash drive.
Now I used the same installation iso my brother used on his pentium 4, but when I use anything from the metro menu, it just does nothing!
If I search for Piano on my laptop, it just can't find anything.
Also; I have Internet explorer 10 installed, but I get the normal version, not the metro one.

I'm using a MSI Wind Notebook u90x, with Intel Atom.
Did I do anything wrong and is it fixable? Or am I forced to do a clean install?

Thanks, as soon I'm home I'll test it out. But what about the missing programs?
I've did a refresh and a clean install (in that order) but it didn't do the job. Is it possible something went wrong with putting the iso on the USB, so the install is corrupt?

I've used the windows 7 to usb/dvd program, with the windows 8 iso. That way i've installed my laptop again. But I still can't run anything. I've also checked if the IE had the 64 bit option, but it didn't...

I'm not sure what you're up against when you say you can't run anything. What are you seeing on your screen? Is the blue E for IE in the taskbar?

Yup, thread died, I know. But it's still not fixed, so I came back to the forums
I already did a clean install, wich didn't help.
The laptop is up-to-date, so that's not the problem.
But when I right-click a program like remote desktop, it doesn't show the options like: "Open containing folder"
so, it's not installed at all...

People..People JUST click on the start flag, then search, from the search window/pane find "Apps"
then type in *.* and low and behold, TONS of those missing apps RETURN.

They are missing on my hard drive, but they are actually at the start menu.
I thaught I was clear on that one...

but the point is: if I click on any of those apps, nothing happens

Did you do a search as I suggested? If you are looking for programs that were in the previous version of Windows you had before installing Windows 8 DP, then go into your C:/ drive, and find a folder named Windows.old, and search that. BUT if you chose a CLEAN INSTALL they are gone.

That's strange, do you see the metro screen with the apps there? Make sure you indeed click them hard enough with your mouse, if they are on the screen they should work. EVEN in metro if a one of the programs are deleted you will not see it listed in the MetroUI.

yup, they are all on the metroUI, and I see them move when I click on them...
but when they won't show in my explorer when I search the C drive for any of them...
