I've been using Win8 CP for quite a while. I also use ClassicShell so that I can use it more like XP.
Yesterday I added a password to my account so that I could login remotely (Logmein).

Now when I login locally, I get the usual tiles on the screen, but the one that was called Desktop (with preview of my desktop) has disappeared.
I have to hunt around for the ClassicShell tile to get back to the desktop.
Can I get the Desktop tile back? It was easy to find at the bottom left of all the tiles.

1. From the Start screen Win+D will take you to Desktop.
2. To get its tile back on Start do the following... Whilst on the Start screen type DESKTOP, the screen will change & 2 items will appear (1) Remote Desktop & the other Desktop... click on the Desktop (one) & a bar appears @ the bottom of the screen where you can select Pin to Start, thus putting its tile (back) on Start.

Just as an aside, you may do better w/out Classic Shell, less confusion, nor is it, really, needed... it's Windows8 not, XP. Maybe learn to use it, as is. I will be glad to help you out w/ that.

Thanks Drew. I will eventually move to the new metro methods, but I'm much faster with the old at the moment. I may as well wait to see what the RC and Final versions are like.

Just a wee hint about what I meant... I work, live & work from Desktop, exclusively... never use the Start screen for anything (except some Searching sometimes). Be glad to show you how. But, yes, there may be some cosmetic & navigational changes in the next beta; expect very little differences between the 'RP' (beta) in June & the GA in October.
