Default Windows 8 doesn't recognize USB modem

Help. I'm using a Verizon Mi-fi modem these days to connect to the internet. Usually, I pop it into any computer and the software launches. My new Windows 8 tower doesn't even see it. It doesn't show up in the list of drives/devices as it does when plugged into all other computers. I've tried several different USB ports with no luck. Obviously, I'm sending this message from an old computer.

    Hi Paranoid Girl,

Welcome to Windows 8 Forums. I suggest updating your driver to see if it works. You need to make sure that your driver is compatiable with windows 8.

I'm wondering if Verizon is/has drivers out for windows 8 yet. You might want to contact Verizon about that as it's not a windows 8 issue.
