Default unable to copy by pressing ctrl+ C

    Hi everyone,

Please help me. I have had this issue for long time. I cant copy when I press ctrl+ C. I always need to press once more or more times. At the beginning, this just happened at times. Now it always happens. I right click to select copy, that is ok.

I am not sure this is related to my keyborad. This keyboard has been used for one year. Also, I am using windows 8 consumer preview. Before windows 7, I used windows 7. No such kind of the issue happened in windows 7.

Please reply if you know any idea. Thanks.

    Prof, Welcome to the Forum!

For a better Windows 8 Pre-release experience, I highly recommend that you clean install (not upgrade to) Windows 8 RP. It's newer, & more things works.

It could very well be a hardware issue. Your keyboard might be going bad.

If after you Clean Install Win 8 RP, you still have the problem, then look to replace the keyboard.

That left control key is right in the path of food and drink.

After you've blocked (selected or Highlighted what you want to copy) try using the right CTRL key +C instead of the left one. ???

I just tried it on my own keyboard and it worked just fine.

    Cheers!

    Thanks for answers.

This issue just happens sometimes. Sometimes, it works, sometimes not. I am not sure this issue is caused by hardware or system or something else. I test today and all work. I am really confused.

H/W problems often can be very intermittent. I would think if your problem were S/W it would be more consistent, but perhaps not.

Have you tried the fix Cat suggested (clean install Win 8 RP) If this is a S/W issue I would think that should fix it.

I believe that we'll know more if you clean install 8 RP. If then, there's still issues, then a new keyboard may be needed. Hopefully, one won't be needed, but even if it were to be, keyboards aren't that expensive. Last years models are often sold at less than half price. This is how I buy these type of accessories, I don't need the latest (& far more costly) models.

Is there a 2nd computer available (even a notebook) to determine if the keyboard is in fact good or not? I use the keyboard that shipped with my HP desktop on my notebook, not only for ease of use, but to prolong the life of the built in one, as well as a wireless mouse. I also want the built in one to last as long as possible, as notebook keyboards, especially for newer models, are far more costly than desktop ones. Not to mention the install.

I suggest a clean install of 8 RP, & we'll take it from there. Nothing to lose & everything to gain in doing so.
