Default Can't connect to Camera in windows 8 CP

    Hi all,

Just one issue and I need your help. When the camera app comes, it doesn't even respond and the change camera button is unconscious. So I don't know where my webcam light went to show its activated.

It used to work fine when I used windows XP/windows 7.

Win 8 CP most likely does not have drivers for your web cam. I would install Win 8 RP (the next beta) This includes more drivers and fixes many problems with Win 8 CP. The proper install method is here.

Some drivers can't work with Windows 8, you need to know that. Check your camera if it is compatible with windows 8 in Compatibility Center for Windows 8 Release Preview

Unfortunately many device manufacturer's are still waiting for the final code before updating drivers. Many of these devices might never get updated drivers. It's too bad that many device manufacturer's do not support their devices across new OS's. In my mind this is poor customer support at best.

Cool Re: Can't connect to Camera in windows 8 CP

    The bottom line:

If your computer and all it's devices does not support Windows 8, then don't run Windows 8 on that computer. (That's so simple I shouldn't even have to mention it.)

There are millions of computers out there, and tens of millions of add-on devices that will never work with Windows 8. Hardware manufacturers are loving it.....because they will get to sell $Billions of dollars worth of NEW and compatible hardware. Eh?

I'll easily get around that little problem, by just sticking with my old, but reliable, Windows XP-Pro-SP3.

    Y'all have a great day now, Y'hear?

Follow these steps and install the drivers in a compatibility mode, check if it helps.

    a) Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel.
    b) Set View by: to Category (if it isn't already set to Category)
    c) Click Programs, and then click Use an older program with this version of Windows.
    d) Open the Program Compatibility Wizard
    e) Follow the instructions in the wizard.

Let us know if it helps.
