Go to the video card site ATI.com or Nvidia.com or whatever you have and download the latest driver. Sometimes Windows Update will update it also.

Do you have a Laptop? Or is this a plug in card in a stationary? In either case, give the laptop make or, if possible, in the stationary, say what the motherboard is. It is possible it is not an ATI or Nvidia if you are using the built in one.

You might be able to check the graphics card model by using an app called Speccy. This will give you tons of info about your system, both hardware and software.

Maybe he will be lucky, but SIW wont install in my 64Bit. But, he doesn't explain hoe he is getting into the desktop? can he even use a program? Otherwise, then, of course, he can use System information in the Admin folders.

Speccy does the same - also free, and runs fine on Windows 8.

    Speccy download

    Edit: added Speccy download link

The free version of SIW will not install, my mistake. Speccy works well. As can be seen that's what I used for my signature system specs.

Yes, before SIW & Speccy came along, I used Belarc for some time. It's not the fastest app of it's kind, but does a great job. Also informs one if there are any missing Windows Updates.

And does it all automatically on a couple of pages.

Most of those 'Tell All' programs read the driver installed, not the card or device itself.

But for the most part, you're going to have to live with the Microsoft provided drivers for now.
I seriously doubt, that any hardware manufacturer has even written any Windows 8 drivers yet, as Window 8 is not even a final product yet.

I don't understand, why so many have missed this simple fact, that Windows 8 is released for Testing Purposes ONLY and is not intended to be anyone's main OS. We've been warning about this since day one and yet some folks just don't seem to get the word. They allow Win-8 to overwrite and destroy their main OS and then go looking for drivers that don't even exist yet.

The worse part of it is, that Win-8/CP will GO DEAD one of these days and then won't even run. So you'll either have to reinstall your old OS or BUY Windows 8. Either way a total reinstall of the OS will be the only recourse.

When I'm testing any new OS, as I've done many times in the past, I set it up on a completely separate hard drive, so when I'm done messing with it, I can just reformat that drive and use it for something else.

    Good Luck!
