Default Weird pinups on the start page related to graphics !

I just got a new sony E series laptop. I installed the codecs for running a mkv file in windows media player.
Now I have some weird pinups on the tiles home page. I am attaching a snapshot of the same.
Please help on what I am suppose to do with them.

    Thanks.Attachment 2085

PS: I have a radeon graphics card, I don't know if this has anything to do with that.

Just parts of the video stuff but, they can be Unpinned from Start, if you want.

    Thanks, I unpinned them.
There is another new problem I am facing, not sure if this is because of the same reason.
But when I click on apps like : Messenger, People , Calendar they become full screen for a second and then return back to the home tile page.
They were all working fine till yesterday. Not sure if its something I have done.

If uninstalling & re-installing the problem APPs doesn't fix them, you can try a Refresh but, also, I'd suggest contacting Sony Support (your support has to come from Sony not, MS... the machine is brand new so, don't muck about w/ it too much. Hard to say if it's something you've done but, I doubt it. I have heard of similar behavior... either the APPs are broken or there is corruption somewhere. Remember, you have warranty support, use it.

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately sony doesn't provide international warranty, so I don't have any support from them.
I reinstalled the app, both mail and people work but calendar and messenger don't.
If I refresh windows 8 , will I loose all the apps I have installed so far ? If yes, is there any other alternative ?
    Thanks

    Hi Drew,
Something I discovered : if I sign in using a local account, I can't use these two apps, however if I sign in using Microsoft account I can use these.
Yesterday I had shifted from no password to a local account, since then I wasn't able to use them.
So I belive in order to use these apps, I 'll have to use the Microsoft account for my user.
Do you see any disadvantages of the same ?
    Thanks

Ok, now it makes sense & now know is not any technical, organic cause.

No, no disadvantages. Indeed it is the proper & intended method. It's how this stuff can work as designed... otherwise it's not yours, for & pertaining to you cus it does know you or it's not tied to you. I trust I'm making sense to you.

Log in w/ your MS Acc't.

    Anyway, glad you sorted things.

    Cheers,

    Hi Drew,
Its not working anymore.. It just worked that one time after I had changed the settings.
Maybe that was just by chance.

Since I can't see or or get my hands on your machine... I go back to saying, contact Sony support.

You can't point a finger @ the OS, in general, unless the same thing was happening w/ every installation as opposed to so many that are problem free.

    Cheers,
    Drew
