As the title mentioned, Nvidia drivers 295.17 crash in windows 8 release preview.

Also have icon resolution changing various time during the windows 8 loading the desktop. Believe these problem to be with NVidia GeForce GT 220 Not be compatible with windows 8.

Version 302.82 is what I'm running on my GeForce GT425M, & the card is running properly. Was also an easy install on my notebook. Includes it's Control Panel.

NVIDIA tends to give better support for their video cards than AMD does, & one can actually "see" the results of the updated driver. Unfortunately, updating AMD's card drivers seems to be a waste of time, as the latest versions looks no better on my desktop than the one that it shipped with in 08/2009 (date of manufacture). One would think that 3 years post release, that the updated driver would be noticeable, but it's not.

302.82 should get you rolling on 8 RP with a supported NVIDIA card.

It's best, to just go to the World's Fastest Graphics Cards, GPUs, and Video Cards | GeForce web site, take their GPU scan and then download the driver that they recommend.
I just did that....I have the GeForce 210 vid card. The correct driver of my card is 301.42, it's 96 megs.
Go to the website, then click on "Drivers" in the upper tool bar and then take the GPU Scan. They will determine exactly what GPU you have, and then they will tell you exactly what driver you need.
Don't try to Guess It, or take drivers from other sites, like MS. GO TO THE SOURCE!

PS: It's imperative, to have the correct drivers, not only for your GPU, but for your OS as well. The driver for my own GPU in XP is not the same driver for my GPU in Win-8. That's 301.42 vs 302.82.

That's where I get my NVIDIA drivers from, straight from the source, through the scan. Some OEM's suggest against this, but I've not had a problem with the drivers from this site. And with most updates, one can actually SEE the DIFFERENCE, unlike it's main competitor, AMD. No visual difference in AMD's stock driver written in '09 & the latest in 2012.

I suppose it depends on the card & OS as to what is the correct driver with NVIDIA, once again, with AMD, one size fits all. These drivers are what the site is showing for me. Note that there's differences between Desktop & Notebook versions, & there is a stable (recommended for most users) & a Beta driver for each. The Beta is 304.79, for those who can run it & are interested.
