Beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

Each person will have their own opinion about which is better.
So there is no pat answer to your question.
Why didn't you open a Poll?

    TechNews, Welcome to the Forum.

There have been many discussions about this. It is difficult to quantify this. Those of us, including me, who use Win 8 full time generally prefer most of the features of Win 8 better when discussing the Desktop UI. When discussing the Windows 8 Apps Space (I think I read this might be the new name, hard to keep pace with the changes) the jury is still out. I do not think this UI is at it's future level yet because there are no higher powered apps developed yet.

This other UI will most likely get better as it matures.

Overall Win 8 beats Win 7 in my book.

It's a matter of personal preference. That's the only thing that I can say in regards to the question.

However, keep in mind that with each new release of Windows, it's more secure, has more features, faster & is generally lighter on resources.

I second TM, a Poll would have been better than a very generalized question.

Thanks for you nice answer. I am also prefer to use Win 8 but its real that Win 8 installing system is difficult than Win 7.

I have found Win 8 a much easier installation that Win 7. I have installed various versions of Win 8 perhaps 10 times. It just seems to install easier, finds auxiliary devices easier, networks easier, etc., etc., etc.

    Buick vs Cadillac.
It's all in the eye of the beholder. Eh?
They both run and get you to where you need to be, but some folks will swear by either one or the other, for some personal reason. And, they will have nothing to do with the other brand.

Now if you're talking Windows XP vs Windows 7, there's something to talk about.
There are folks that have moved up to a new computer running Win-7 and absolutely HATE it,
because it won't run their old favorite programs.

Just yesterday I had a customer with a Win-7/64 laptop ask me if I had any old XP machine that I could sell them, because they have programs that they want to run that will NOT run on Win-7.
Yes I do, and I'll provide them with one, later this week.

Since Win-8 isn't even released yet, in its final version, it's kind of a mute subject as to whether Win-7 or Win-8 will wind up the most popular. Only time will tell. We'll not settle the question here. Eh?

Oh, by the way, I'm still running Windows XP/Pro-32/SP3 as my everyday OS, because it runs the programs that I rely on, that Win-8 will not run. And, horror of horrors, I run it on a FAT-32 formatted 1 gig hard drive.
Again, a case of personal preference.

    Cheers Mates!

I like Windows 8, both the desktop and Metro (I'm calling it Metro, I don't care). When working, I spend most of my time in the desktop environment, though when taking a break, etc., I like the Metro interface for a quick look at stocks, news, ... There is a lot of potential there.

That said, I think Metro does have to mature. There are some things that bug me - like when you have two monitors - metro home screen on one and the desktop on the other - and you move focus to the desktop screen, the metro start screen minimizes and also goes to the desktop. If you are in an app, it won't, but the home screen does. Kills me!
