I hope this is the right place to get. if not, i apologize, let me know and i will move it to where it should be.
my desktop gadgets such as Adobe reader have stopped working one week ago and i have googled this error up but still can not find a good solution so far.
During the system startup I get this message " windows desktop gadgets has stopped working".
by the way, i am running windows 8 64 bit on a HP inpirion 1525 2.4 dual core, 4 gb mem, on board graphics.

Please make sure to turn on UAC and “Show desktop icons” by right clicking on desktop > View > Show Desktop icons. because you might have turn off the UAC, but if it is not the case, no more suggestions!

Probably you can run the following command from an Administrative Command Prompt (Click Start Orb, type CMD in the search box, Right-click on CMD.EXE and select Run as Administrator).

You can try re-launching the Gadgets and disable newly added. That worked for me: I had Daemon tools installed and its gadget. After installing it - every time I had "Gadgets stopped working" message. When I disable DT gadget - problem disappeared.

I believe it might be the issue of compatibility of 3rd party desktop gadgets...

You've just responded to a thread that is way over a year old and all about a version of Win-8 we're not even using anymore.

All responses since June 1, should be on Windows 8 RP only.
