Default Win 8 Microsoft Account (including Hotmail) not working with Windows Live Mail

OS: Win 8 Pro x64, RAM: 16GB. I am the victim of a password glitch of my own making. Somehow during the install process I ended up with ‘Password A’ for my Microsoft Account and ‘Password B’ for my Windows Live Mail Account. As a result, Windows Live Mail has suddenly quit working and reports the two error messages shown below. At the same time Mail in Windows Outlook (which I dislike) works fine. I have tried to re-install Windows Live Mail and change passwords but this does not help. Any suggestions on how I correct the problem?

#1: To send and receive messages in your Hotmail account, go to hotmail.live.com on the Web, or try again later. To get help from Windows Live Customer Support, go to support.live.com and click Windows Live Mail in the list of services.

Well, you could just blow it up with C4 and start over, or....
(yeah, I don't like Outlook either)

You can always just give up on Hotmail, a program that has plagued thousands of users, for years.

Many of my PC customers have had so many problems with hotmail that they have almost begged me to offer some solution. Well, my solution is to open up a FREE GMail account, for them, and set it up on a third party email program like Thunderbird. That takes them completely away from MS email and all its warts and blemishes.

For us old diehard Outlook Express users, there is Windows Mail, (I call it O.E. on steroids) which with a little hacking, can be re-activated in both Windows 7 and Windows 8. I've done it, and it works. I've even done it for a few of my customers who were not really willing to give up their O.E.6, which they used on XP.

Windows Live Mail? That's even worse than "Outlook" !!! To me its a total "no show".

    Good Luck,

Horses for courses, I guess. I've used Live mail since its invention. Does everything I could wish for and has never let me down. Also links me automatically to two outlook (Hotmail) accounts.

If I understand you correctly you want to use your MS login information when you sign into windows on your computer to be the same as what you use on your Windows Live mail account.

Yes, and one out of a thousand, can run across a busy freeway in rush hour traffic, and not get killed.

But that's not advised for the common man.

I set up Live Mail for just one man when it first came out and he took one look at it and I thought he was going to hit me. It looked like crap and he told me so. That day, I didn't have anything else to offer him.
Since then I've found out how to activate 'Windows Mail' and I set that up for many of my customers, as I've already said.

If Live Mail makes you happy, by all means, go right ahead and use it, with my blessings.
But personally, I don't want any part of Windows Live anything.

That is an outstanding and biased observation. ! I would suggest, for the sake of other members, it needs amplification.
    This remark for example:
"took one look at it and I thought he was going to hit me" Begs many questions??????

What do you specifically dislike in the program? Or, more to the point, what did he observe "after one look at it".
