Will "winkey+1-9" keyboard shortcut work from the Metro screen? - Windows 8

I always use Winkey+1 or winkey+2 to launch file-browser and web-browser after my computer boots to desktop. The last thing I want is for my computer to boot to the Metro screen and be forced to use the mouse to click on the file-browser or web-browser tile. Anybody know if the winkey+1-9 shortcut works from the metro screen?
