Default Is there a way to view and or reset synchronized data?

    Hi all,

    Installed windows 8 release preview.

I am having more and more issues with the mail/calendar/concacts applications. I only have this problems with my main Microsoft Account. I think I have corrupted information in the roaming settings (a freshly installed device has the same problems). I was already using this account with the developer preview, and I use French and English version of windows 8. Plus I use this account for development and entertainment.

Is there a way to view and or reset the roaming setting that are synchronized via the Microsoft account.

Merce & Julie, welcome to the Forum!

Merce, I seen this same post worded the same way on MS Answers while searching for an answer. Is this you?

Anyway, this is what I've came up with, this part is rather new to me.

    Application data (Metro style apps)

What both of you can try is using a local account for less important things, like general web browsing, rather than be logged into a MS account all of the time. Personally, I don't want to be logged into my main Hotmail account, as this is where my business is handled. If a severe virus/malware attack took place, there could go my identity. For that reason, prior to installing Win 8 CP on 02/09, I created an new Hotmail account, just to sync my settings, shared with no one of importance, I use it to sign up for free shipping/promo codes as a potential new customer.

I would never trust my entire identity to a live operating system, my regular Hotmail account could put together many of the pieces of it, if a skilled hacker got into here. You know, tax return info, bank statements, purchases, all of these things are there when one's regular Hotmail account is linked to Win 8 RP, that is, if like many does, we live in a digital rather than a paper world.

Having a Hotmail address that friends can keep in touch with, when logged on, mabye yes. But not one with financial/business/personal affairs attached. Many eateries/cafes have free wi-fi for their customers, this would be a grand opportunity for one running a Linux variant to read every word you're reading, across the room somewhere, or parked on the curb.

My suggestion would be to start over with a fresh Hotmail account, or follow the instructions in the article I posted, remove some problematic apps. Or better yet, once Windows 8 becomes Retail, just use a local account. This would totally eliminate all of the issues that the two of you are having.
