I have used EasyBCD on many occasions. MSCONFIG can do similar things, but EasyBCD has many more features.

Am I correct in assuming, that when you run only one OS per hard drive, you really don't need it?
Or, does it still have useful functions, for ONE OS on ONE HD?

There are some useful utilities, but they are all able to be gotten by other means. Easy BCD is most useful with multi-boot systems. It would probably be best to install it to look through the various screens. It is easy to uninstall if you do not find it useful, but it is powerful when working with the MBR of a system.
