Default Taskbar will no longer AutoHide in windows 8

    Hi, guys

I have set my taskbar to autohide and i enjoyed it so far. yesterday i found that I tried toggling the autohide feature On and OFF, it did not work anymore.

And i have upgraded to windows 8 yesterday and before that it worked very well in win7. maybe there are some missteps during the upgrading process.

Does anyone can tell me how to check it? or if you want more informations please give me some pointers as to how or where i find the info you want.

    many thanks in advance.

Of course, Windows 8 supports the feature of autohide of the taask bar. Pls open task manager, end the process of explorer, at that time, the desktop will close. Do not worry. Pls open the file in menu bar--New task--run--Enter explorer and then press Enter. there is no need to reinstall the computer.

Hope you can solve your Autohide problem of the taskbar in Windows 8.

I would never have considered reinstalling W$ over this issue however I was a little baffled. Just a point or two. If you encounter this issue you'll find the process in the 'Details' tab of task manager (ctrl+alt+Del). And second point, just an observation, the error appeared to have been caused by a conflict caused by two occurrences of explorer running concurrently.

All this said, the solution above worked perfectly. Thank you.

Late reply but saw this thread come up towards the top of search results in Google, one of the most likely causes of auto-hide not working is the Action Center which provides alerts if your system hasn't updated in a while. The Action Center is the system tray icon of a white flag. To determine if it is what is preventing auto-hide from working, click on it in the System Tray, then close the window that appears. If Auto-Hide starts working, that was the cause.

    It can be disabled:
    1.) Open the Control Panel
2.) Open "Notification Area Icons" (use the search box at the top right if you don't see this listed)
3.) Towards the bottom of this window click the text link: "Turn System Icons On or Off"
4.) Change "Action Center" to OFF
