Default Source path too long and can't delete windows 8 folder

    Hi guys,

In windows 8 64 bit, I can't delete a folder. does anyone know how to fix that?

One week ago I just upgraded to windows 8 64 bit Pro and everything works fine except for one problem. before the upgrading, we always think the grass is greener. Now i really want to turn back to Windows 7 64 bit but i can't do that. 'My Documents' in windows 8, an endless list of empty folders 'My Documents/My Music/My Documents/My Music/My Documents/My Music/My Documents/My Music...etc.

and a weirder message will pops up everytime when i am trying to delete it and says that the source files name is larger than is supported by the file system.

What can i do to delete this annoying file? any suggestions?

thank you for your help in advance.

I have not encountered such problem. You can try to delete them under windows 8 Safe Mode

    Hi sunyekerry,

This is a path length type error.

The best way to do this is by mapping a drive to the deepest folder...

In explorer Find Map Network Drive
    Select a drive letter
Browse to the folder location with the file in it
Uncheck the box about reconnect at login and click OK
You should now be able to open that folder from the drive letter in Explorer and delete the files.

You may have to rename the file if the file name is still too long, but you should be able to from this point. Give it a 1 charicter name and that should allow you to delete it.
