For those that don't like metro there's an app that allows you to disable the new Metro features and bring back the Windows 7 start menu available at: everything-microsoft.com and go to the downloads section.

John, What's the name of the app? I could not find it.
Its called Metro controller this is the link: http://www.everything-microsoft.com/.../?category=373
Its under Downloads - Utilities - Windows 8 Utilities
And its the only Windows 8 Utility
Hope that helps
I'm always game for a new Utility, , , I have four gig's of them on my Utilities DVD.
So, I downloaded the file, then found out I needed .net 3.5 (includes 2.0 & 3.0) and installed that,
then ran the Metro Utility and had to reboot. So the metro screen came up as normal, with no new apps on it.
I then went to my desktop. Nothing new..... same'O, same'O!
So what is this utility supposed to do? It surely didn't remove the Metro UI screen, which is what I was really hoping for.
We used to have a batch file, that would jump right to the Desktop on boot up, but MS nixed that in RP.

Hey, at 69 with no money, what else am I going to do? Idle hands are the Devil's tools. Eh?
But the bottom line is, that after jumping through all the hoops and installing the Metro Controller, I see NO Control at all. Everything looks the same.
I'd love to see the button that says "Disable Metro on Boot", or something like that.

The Classic Shell is fine for me. Works as expected. I do every once in a while have to go into Metro for those things that don't work well on the Desktop (very few but I have been there at times).
I will hold off on this for the present until we see how it is working. Just like that new contender to replace Classic Shell that showed up a few weeks ago from some new members. It did not seem to work as well as what I already have.
