I have a Dell running with Windows 8 & when i start my computer up, it takes forever, & sometimes it doesn't load at all, so how can I delete everything EXCEPT my itunes music?

    Veronica,

Do you have another computer? Are you, also, running Windows7 or something on that Dell? I suggest you'd be better to copy the iTunes stuff on to media, an Ext Drive or something. Then, format the drive holding Win8 Beta1 & replace it w/ Windows8 RP (Beta2) which, will be available early June.

    Cheers,

Come Friday, as the rumors has it, Windows 8 RP (the final testing phase) will be out. Backup your iTunes music, download Windows 8 RP on Friday (or the weekend) & start over from scratch. Hopefully, you'll have a better experience with this version. Please report back & let us know how it works out for you.

It's my hope that your original install is backed up, or you have re-install media, because if you either don't like Windows 8 RP, or don't want to buy the final Retail version, any pre-releases of Windows 8 will deactivate in January.

    Hello,
I have Windows 7 on another desktop. Do I need to copy the iTunes stuff on to an Ext Drive if I want to protect it from deleting? No other suggestion?

    Thanks a lot.

    Veronica,

YES, the best is to get the iTunes stuff off the Win8 that you have now; to the ext drive will do fine. When the (current) Win8 drive is formatted before & as part of installing the next Win8 Beta... yep, that will, of course, wipe out everything the was Win8 Beta1... that's what formatting does.

You can only clean ("Custom") install the next Beta of Win8.

    Cheers,
    Drew

When you clean install Win 8 RP it will automatically format your HD before installing this new beta OS. Everything will be lost that is presently on the HD.

I was hoping that repeating things will cause them to sink in.

Sorry I have had someone else on my mind this am. See my PM

I read it & you may read my answer. I wasn't offended, btw. Backing each other up & repeating may pay off, hope so, anyway.

You would think it would help to say the same thing over and over again, in slightly different ways, but from the users posts I've read, it's not making any difference. Eh? (English spoken here!)

We keep saying DO NOT OVERWRITE your Licensed OS, and it appears to make no difference at all. They just keep doing it anyway. S'pose they don't understand what an "OS" is???

What is so complicated about saving data, pictures or music to a Flash Drive?
The use of Flash Drives has been discussed extensively on every computer forum in the world....FOR YEARS!, since the Flash Drive was first invented. You can buy them almost everywhere. I see them for sale in the Grocery stores and drug stores now.
And cheaper than a bag of dirt.

I have a 16 gig "SanDisk" (brand) Flash Drive, that I just leave plugged into a rear USB port, for a quick backup whenever I need one.

Please, everyone, don't take something so simple and try to turn it into Rocket Science.
