Default How do you think about new windows 8?

    Hi,

Windows 8 consumer preview has been out for days. How do you think about the new window 8? I am starting a thread to discuss about new windows 8.

Err...I dont know your thoughts. I did meet many troubles when I use it. But I still like it. I like the Metro UI, like the fast startup and shutdown speeds. Of course, I like the fact that its free!

What will you say about window 8 consumer preview?

The Windows 8 Consumer Preview looks like it's going to be a good one, what's yet to be determined is which type of users will actually buy it. Of course, once it's officially released, most new computers will have Windows 8 pre-installed, those users are set. These computers will most likely have what's needed for everything that Windows 8 offers to function correctly.

I like it myself, as it gave my PC a huge boost of speed w/o any hardware changes. But this PC is a low spec one. On my more powerful notebook, there was no difference at all, there was loss of certain functions, like the 5 dimension power options & Turbo Boost. Therefore, I reverted to the backup that I created prior to the install.

The appearance of my desktop really looks good when using Win 8 CP, even better than 7 gives. Everything on the PC is perfectly functional. All functions are easily found. Hopefully, it'll only get better as time passes.

At this point it's only free because it is a beta test OS. Once the RTM is released sometime in October, the Win 8 CP will deactivate shortly thereafter (sometime in early January). At that point you will have to decide if you wish to purchase the new Win 8 or stick with your original OS whatever you presently have. For me that will be a tough decision. I am really enjoying Win 8 CP, but I have often said "they can have my Win 7 when they can pry it from my cold, dead hands!" I also really like Win 7.

Fortunately I still have a few months left before I have to make that decision. I will be running Win 8 CP through as much as I can in that time.

I did like the networking of Win 8 CP. In my case Win 8 CP actually talked to my other networked PC's better than my Win 7 Ultimate. I also like the boot and shutdown times. Operationally, both seem about the same, but then my PC is fairly responsive for a laptop.

Of course it's FREE............. it's a TEST version, not a Final version or RETAIL version.
MS has never charged for their TEST versions of any OS.
Just like CP is different than DP, the final retail or OEM version may be different still.
They may decide to do away with the Desktop all together.
That would certainly be a game changer. Eh?
