    Hi!

    Navigate to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

Find firefox.exe here, right-click and select "Pin to start''.

    Alternatively, choose "create shortcut"

Copy the shortcut to desktop. Hope this helps

Usually, if you are on your Desktop when you install a program like Firefox the installer will put the Shortcut icon ON the desktop.
It will generally appear along the left margin, if there's space.

If that failed, I'd find the Firefox.exe program file, using windows explorer, right click on the .exe and then click on "Send to desktop and Create Shortcut". (or some such verbage)
That should create the Firefox icon in your desktop. (unless your Win-8 install is hopelessly boogered up)

Good Luck and Thank You for installing Firefox.

Normally, if Firefox is your default browser, a shortcut will be created on the taskbar (on Windows 8 & 7). This was the case with me, on two installs.

Did you select FF as your default browser? If not, when it's open, you can pin it to the taskbar anyway.

I had no problem, getting my FF icon, but my problem was that even after I told FF that I wanted it to be the default browser, I.E. would still jump up to open any internet link.

That really sucked! I did what several people told me to do to fix the problem but I.E. defied all attempts to get it to just "Cease and desist!".

After some searching and a little help, I finally found where Windows 8 saves its file associations and I set FF as the default program to open any and all "http" , "https" and associated file names.
Now FF is truly my default program for opening any internet link.

While I was in that area, I set "Photo Filtre" as the default program to open any and all graphics files, like .bmp, .jpg, .gif, and so forth. When "Photo Filtre" installs, it does NOT take over all graphic file associations, like some graphics programs are famous for doing. I like that about "Photo Filtre" but it does require some manual tweaking.

    Cheers Mates!
