Cool Darn! This OS is ignorant!

Why do I say this OS is ignorant?
Because it doesn't know who its BOSS is! It's certainly not Bill Gates! Eh?

I'm the ONLY user on this PC. No one else even lives in this house, but Win-8 occasionally tells me I'm not an Administrator and I don't have permission to do something, like post an update to Spybot Search & Destroy. Cheeeeech!

Is there a GOD MODE for Win-8?
As far as this PC is concerned, I AM GOD! I created it and I can surely destroy it.

Even the reg script, "Grant Admin Full Control" does not give me full privileges.
    What is with this POS?

    End of Rant:

    Anyone else have this problem?

I have just learned to live with it and move on. There are too many much more important things in life than trying to beat the dickens out of my PC.... and loosing, so what the heck. Just go with the flow. We know there will be more tweaks when RC (The rumor is there will be a RC sometime this summer, who knows for sure) is released. We'll see what we shall see. I am enjoying trying to make this OS do what I want. Sometimes I win, sometimes it wins.

There's two ways to handle a problem,,, go straight at it, or detour around it.
So I found a way to run "Spybot S&D" and do my 'Immunizations' without W8 giving me backtalk.

I checked the properties of the Spybot S&D shortcut on my desktop and Set it for Win-XP compatibility and set it to run as administrator. That seems to have solved at least that one problem.

I feel like I've Won one battle, but I've not won the war.
Maybe someone else can use that technique, to get a program to run the way they want it to.

    Cheers Mates!

Compatibility mode has made many programs/apps run on Windows 7 that wouldn't natively. The same may end up applying to Windows 8, who knows?

What I can get to run on Win 8 CP, I run, what I can't, I don't worry with it. By the time it's all said & done, most, if not all, programs/apps that ran well on Windows 7 should run well on Windows 8. But I don't know about XP, everything that runs on XP doesn't run on Windows 7. Sometimes the compatibility trick will work, but not always.

The closing comment is "to do the job".
Does that mean I'd have to go through that every time I want to run a program?

    Surely not!

When I get back to win8 later on, I'll take a look at that. I do have the instructions printed out.

It's looking more and more, like the first edition of "Windows 8 for Dummies" is going to look like the N.Y. City Phone Directory. Maybe even in more than one volume. lol

    Thanks,

Sir TM, may I make a small suggestion. The quote in your signature is slightly hard to read for us "seniors". Perhaps slightly larger font would help. Just a small suggestion, one Sir to another Sir.
