Yeah I'm pretty sure they forgot to take it off. Strange didn't notice that.

I tried that, and one other member decided he didn't like me so he went to the powers that be, and got me demoted.
Now I'm just another member, just like you. I believe his comment was, "now we can ban him anytime we want to".
I'm paraphrasing, of course. I didn't read that message directly, it was forwarded to me by another moderator, who has also left this forum.

I'm just about done with the internet forums. I'm pretty well burned out on them. Redundancey runs rampant!!!
I've bought a new Ham Radio and put up a new antenna and I'm going back to my first love, so to speak.
It's much nicer being able to actually talk to people instead of typeing out a message and hope that everyone understands what I'm trying to convey. The spoken word is a much better means of communication. After all, we were doing it thousands of years before the computer. Eh?

    Moderator? Never again!

    Good choice.

I am totally out of touch now. But, illegally I think, I had a war surplus 1154/55 rig in my teens and had a huge amount of fun with it. on today's comparative prices, it is irrelevant I guess, but I seem to remember I picked it up in a war surplus electronic store ( that would be around the mid to late 50's), for schoolboy pocket money. Probably about two pounds, or 5 dollars.

Over a decade before my first computer, I got involved in Citizens Band Radio. It was all done legally in those days, circa mid sixties, where we all had licenses and used our radios according to the laws set down by the FCC.
Within a month or so, of getting my first radio, I was doing repair work for other CB'ers and putting up towers and I found myself in the CB Radio business. Strange how my hobbies seem to turn into businesses. lol

But after the truckers started using CB radio to chit chat and avoid the Highway Patrol, the whole thing went to heck in a hand basket. Finally the FCC just washed their hands of the whole mess, which they could no longer control, and DE-Regulated CB radio. That's when I got out of it and decided to become an Ham Radio operator. That was a very good move on my part.
I spent many a long hour, driving to service calls all across the state of Illinois and my little 2Meter Ham Radio is about the only thing that kept me sane and awake. With the setup I had in my car, I could contact Repeater stations a hundred miles from where I was at any moment.

After getting involved in the Computer forums on the internet, I got away from Ham Radio and sold all my equipment. That was several years ago, but now, being totally sickened by the repetition and back-biting on some forums, I'm going back to my first love, Ham Radio. I really just love Talking to people with similar interests.
Last night I spent over an hour, just chatting with other Hams from around my area.

Here in Florida, we have a statewide network of 440mhz repeater stations, that allows me to talk to guys in all parts of the state. Two nights ago I chatted with one guy in Jacksonville and then another guy in Tampa. This was set up by the state as an emergency communications network, but it's being staffed and maintained by Ham Radio Clubs. And in an emergency, like a Hurricane hitting Florida, the entire network will be manned by Ham Radio Operators. Emergency services can be instantly dispatched to wherever they are needed. Ten years ago, we didn't have anything like that.

In case of a Hurricane or Tornado when I have no line power, no cable and no phone, I can still fire up my little radio on battery power and put out a call that will be heard state wide. I've let my neighbors know this so if they need emergency help during a power outage, I can get that help for them.

So if you see me dissappear from here, I'm probably just chatting away on the radio.

    Take care Mate!

Hmmmm! I wasn't aware there was such a list. I get lots of PM's.

I'll go check though. If you're not on my Friends list, I'll add you.
