It's not that I don't "like or dislike" the Modern UI due to design, it's that I like to boot straight to the Desktop, where I'm at 99.9% of the time while on the computer. On a browser. Though I do like & use a couple of the Modern UI functions, Mail & Weather, when I wish to.

It's simply a matter of personal preference. There's no "one size fits all" to this thing, most users, to some degree, customizes their computer the way we like them. The Modern UI is among these customizations, it's not like those who likes Classic is removing the Modern UI (I don't think it's allowed, per the MS EULA, that may be reverse engineering), some of us just prefers to see it only when we wish, by using the Win+C keyboard shortcut.

When I am using my desktop or laptop connected to an external monitor, I prefer to use the metro style. I find the metro needs to be on a large screen to look and work well.
When using my laptop monitor, classic style works better. I use the regular metro apps frequently on W8. Some of them can be very useful. There is an adjustment period with metro.

BTW, I have used all of the third-party start menus. Now I have removed them. It is time to get used to W8 as the OS is. I find navigation to be just fine on W8 without any third-party start menus. However if one wants them that is fine too. It is all a matter of choice, in my opinion.

The classic style, it's sparking to look at the metro interface, it hurts my eyes.

The topic tended to stray, & I was a participant in some of those posts. Sorry threeone, got tangled up in the "other" definition of Classic & Metro.

Though the Forum is more attractive & colorful with the Metro style, the Classic look of the Forum is far more functional. Unless one has a very high resolution monitor & card to support it, it's also hard to see all of the categories at first glance.

It is good to try new things though & I'll be the first to state, I do appreciate what we have here, who knows, another idea may come along that's better.

When I log into this forum from my Windows 8 tablet, it is set to Metro style.

I cannot post. I click in the message box and my Windows 8 keyboard pops up but then immediately closes. Perhaps if I had a regular keyboard connected I could type something. But, I don't. So I HAVE to switch to Classic style to respond to a post like this.

It depends on which computer I'm on. If I'm sitting in front of a desk I'd rather have classic. If I'm in front of a big screen TV I'll go Metro.
